1. Clothing: Silhouettes, Cut, and Geometry

For a beautiful, glamorous photoshoot, clothing should highlight the body’s curves and hold its shape. Soft, shapeless knitwear is best reserved for casual, at-home looks. In a studio or a textured hotel interior, two extremes work perfectly:

A sleek look: An oversized men’s blazer worn over bare skin, a sleek three-piece pantsuit, or a perfectly tailored trench coat. A sharp shoulder line instantly frames the shot, making the look sleek and sexy.

Evening glamour: A slip dress made of thick silk (matte, without cheap artificial sheen), an off-the-shoulder sheath dress, or a dress with a deep back cutout. Your clothes should move with you.

The rule of balance: If you’re wearing a revealing and daring top (such as a corset top or a deep neckline), the bottom should be as understated as possible (structured palazzo pants or a maxi skirt). And vice versa. This will keep the look from appearing tacky.

2. Fabric Texture: Creating Depth in the Frame

The camera loves texture. If all your clothes are made of the same smooth fabric, the image will look flat. The sophistication of a shot comes from the contrast between different surfaces:

  • Combine matte and glossy textures: for example, heavy matte leather (a leather jacket) and flowing, delicate silk (a dress or a lingerie-style top).
  • Use textured fabrics: coarse wool, heavy denim, velvet, satin, or high-quality chunky-knit jersey.
  • Avoid small, contrasting prints (small polka dots, densely spaced florals, thin stripes). In photos, such patterns often start to “flicker” (the moiré effect) and make the outfit look cheap. Opt for monochromatic pieces.

3. Color Combinations: The Magic of Monochrome and the “Quiet Luxury” Palette

The color of your clothing should complement not only your color type but also the interior of the location. The safest bet for a glamorous portrait is monochrome.

  • The classic trio: black, white, and deep gray. Black-and-white portraits in minimalist outfits are a timeless classic that always look sophisticated.
  • Elegant neutrals: Beige, cream, coffee, chocolate, khaki, and milk. These shades gently highlight the skin and look perfect in both minimalist studios and the interiors of Tbilisi’s luxury hotels.
  • How to incorporate a bold color: If you want color, stick to just one — for example, deep burgundy, emerald, or classic scarlet. In this case, the background and the rest of the outfit should be neutral.

4. Shoes: The Foundation of Your Posture

Shoes in a glamorous photo shoot aren’t just an accessory — they’re what changes your posture on camera. As soon as you slip on a pair of heels, your weight distribution automatically shifts, your abs tighten, your back straightens, and your body appears more elongated.

  • Pointed-toe pumps: Classic pumps in nude or black with a pointed toe. They visually extend the line of the leg and make the silhouette appear longer.
  • Minimalist sandals: Thin straps, open toes. These shoes look weightless and don’t overwhelm the lower half of the frame.
  • Dramatic contrast: Tall leather boots with wide shafts or chunky ankle boots paired with a flowing, feminine dress. This is a great technique for bolder, magazine-worthy looks.

Make sure the soles of your shoes are clean (especially if we’re shooting on a white studio cyclorama).

5. Accessories: Adding Accents

Accessories are important details. They should be worn in moderation. The purpose of jewelry is to draw attention to your hands, neck, or collarbones — not to steal the spotlight.

  • Minimal Metal: One statement piece is enough—either large, minimalist earrings, a chunky metal cuff, or a single, simple ring. Avoid mixing gold, silver, pearls, and rhinestones in a single look.
  • Sunglasses: Classic black graphic sunglasses or cat-eye frames are the easiest way to instantly add a cinematic touch to your look.
  • Details: A beautiful silk scarf, sheer gloves, or a minimalist leather belt with a neat buckle that accentuates the waist under a voluminous blazer.

Top tip: Keep it simple

Before the shoot, gather all your items and look them over together. If you feel like there’s too much of something—take it off. The most beautiful glamour is the kind that looks effortless. Your main goal on set is to feel confident and comfortable in the outfits you’ve chosen.

During a one-on-one photo shoot, I always help you refine your looks before we even start, set up the right lighting to complement the texture of your fabrics, and guide you through every movement.
